Travel Keepsakes

I made these little sand bottles after our trip to give away as gifts. More personal than gift shop! They're full of sand that was scooped up from the roadside in New Mexico. I don't usually buy from gift shops, rather, I like to make my travel gifts more personal. To me, it's worth the little extra effort & is fun.

After coming home, I put the sand out on the back porch to dry in the sun and left it overnight. (don't want condensation forming inside of the project.) Once dry, I filled three small glass bottles that were purchased from a craft store for about $0.98/ea. Instead of sealing them with a cork, I filled the opening with hot glue & pressed a polished stone onto the top of each one. The outside of the bottles are adorned with repurposed/broken jewelry that I have collected and keep in a craft box. Below is the finished product and behind the bottles are a few lava rocks that I found on the ground!

Next time you road trip - grab a few pebbles off the ground and maybe some small natural things or a handful of sand - The possibilities of things you can create are endless.

If you have a second - like, share or leave your comment below, Do you travel?, Enjoy photography? Have any DIY suggestions?? I'd like to hear from you. Thanks for reading! 💕

Your Friend,

Laura
