DSLR How to -- Creating Ghost Photos

Things you'll need:
  • 1DSLR Camera
  • 1 Tripod

 

Choose a partner to be your ghost (you can be in it also if you use your camera's timer)

 
Find your place ahead of time & go there around dusk. (or if you opt for a ND filter you can use this technique during the day.)
 
Camera Settings: Manual Mode, LOW ISO, high aperture & long exposure.
 
Set up your camera & tripod. Use a timer for a "selfie" or, pose your partner
 
Have your subject stand still for the first 5-8 seconds of exposure then, they may quickly walk out of the frame. This will make them appear ghostly and transparent.
 
 
  • Have fun and try different things to see what works for you. I used a timer and 30 second exposure on the bottom photo which game me plenty of time to pose in two places creating a "twin" me.
