How to Write with light

Using your DSLR Camera

  • Place your SLR or DSLR Camera about 8-12 ft from where you will be "drawing
  • Set the shutter speed so it will be open long enough for you to write/draw what you would like. (I kept my ISO low while leaving the shutter open for 30 seconds)
  • Shut the lights off, grab a flashlight, push the shutter release & start drawing. (if you move fast enough you wont show up in the picture

*Did you notice the "y"? I was doing great writing backwards until I got to the "y". If you don't want to write backwards you can write regular and mirror it using a program such as Photoshop, Lightroom, or even MS Paint.

**Directions for flipping an image using MS Paint: Image>Flip/Rotate>Flip Horizontal (see sample images)

Have Fun!!
